STEPHENSON-WRIGHT
About Me
I'm a documentary photographer and filmmaker for the BBC, Channel 4, E4, Channel 5, National Geographic, Discovery Channel and Curiosity Stream.
I grew up between the UK and Germany, and trained as a Biologist before working in journalism. After university I joined the BBC, where I first started working in hospitals and also learned to self-shoot. I fell in love with filming as soon as I picked up a camera, and I take tremendous pride in the cinematic quality of my work.
I believe in power of film to kick-start positive change in the world, and strive to make work that amplifies the voices of those who struggle to be heard. I enjoy engaging with difficult topics, and have covered delicate issues from mental health struggles and infertility to terminal illness and bereavement.
My work has won awards including a D&AD Wooden Pencil, Campaign Big Award, RTS Midlands Award and Broadcast Digital Award, and has been nominated for an Emmy.
Before making films I also worked as a documentary photographer, a graphic designer and a theatre technician, and I’ve had writing published by Macmillan, Hodder and award-winning independent publisher The Emma Press.
